Following the warm-up are blocks, strikes, kicks, takedowns, rolls & falls, as well as one-on-one and multiple-attacker self-defense and sparring. Traditional empty hand and weapon forms are practiced extensively, as they are the foundation of Isshinryu Karate. Confidence is gained through becoming stronger mentally and physically, all the while learning and improving movement, balance, self-defense and sparring ability. This growth and increasing capability in the martial arts is tempered with the awareness and practice of humility and respect.

Ages 12 and older are welcome to apply for participation in classes, which are held at the Fruitland Grange on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6pm.

Training location – 11102 86 Ave E Puyallup, WA 98373

Training at the Northwest Isshinryu dojo begins with a 15-20 minute warm-up, which includes stretching and calisthenics.
